Clark County Criminal Records Search: Cases & Public Records
Clark County Criminal Records Search: Court Cases, Dockets & Public Records
To search Clark County criminal records in Nevada, start with the Eighth Judicial District Court for felony or gross misdemeanor cases, or the appropriate Justice Court for misdemeanor cases and preliminary criminal proceedings.
Las Vegas Justice Court, the other Clark County Justice Courts and city Municipal Courts use separate search systems. The county also has a free current-inmate lookup, while official Nevada criminal-history reports require a separate state process.
Official Nevada and Clark County sources reviewed October 2026.
Where to Search Clark County Criminal Records
Clark County has several criminal court jurisdictions. The records held by a District Court clerk are not identical to the records of a Justice Court, Municipal Court, police department or Nevada State Police.
Eighth Judicial District Court
Search filed felony and gross misdemeanor cases, hearings, criminal motions, judgments and other public District Court proceedings.
Open District Court Portal ↗Las Vegas Justice Court
Search publicly available criminal cases, misdemeanor proceedings and preliminary felony matters within Las Vegas Justice Court jurisdiction.
Open Justice Court ↗Justice Court Public Access
Search participating Justice Courts, including Henderson, North Las Vegas, Laughlin, Mesquite and other townships.
Open County Justice Search ↗Nevada State Police Repository
Request your personal statewide Nevada criminal-history record through the Records, Communications and Compliance Division.
Open Nevada Records Request ↗How to Search Clark County Felony Criminal Cases Online
The Eighth Judicial District Court handles felony and gross misdemeanor proceedings in Clark County, including many cases originating in Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas.
Its current public search system is the Odyssey-based District Court Portal. The court has directed public-access users toward this newer portal rather than relying on legacy Odyssey access sites.
Steps for the Eighth Judicial District Court portal
-
Open the official case portal.
Go to clarkcountycourts.us/portal. Allow JavaScript and cookies if your browser blocks the application.
-
Choose Smart Search.
Select the Smart Search feature for public court records. Some features and document-access options may require account registration.
-
Search by case number or party.
A complete case number is the most reliable starting point. If you do not know it, use the defendant’s name and other supported search criteria.
-
Confirm the criminal case.
Check the defendant, filing date, case type and court information. Avoid assuming a common-name match belongs to the person you intended to search.
-
Open the case information.
Read available Events and Hearings entries, case filings, court orders and subsequent activity.
-
Check the disposition.
Look for dismissal, plea, verdict, sentencing, amended judgment or later court action. A charge or pending filing alone is not proof of conviction.
-
Request official records when necessary.
For an authenticated court document or unavailable filing, contact the Clerk of the Court with the case number.
How old are Clark County District Court records?
The District Court Clerk maintains records dating from September 1909 onward. Most records filed from 1990 to the present may be searched online.
For records filed from 1909 through 1990, you may need an in-person or mailed request. Some older cases require staff to consult microfilm or microfiche.
Cases predating Clark County’s creation in 1909 may need to be researched through Lincoln County records.

How to Search Las Vegas Justice Court Criminal Cases
Las Vegas Justice Court maintains its own public case-search system. It handles qualifying misdemeanor cases, initial felony proceedings, preliminary hearings and other matters within the Las Vegas township.
The court’s official website includes a Case Search link. Its public-access search guidance describes Criminal Case Records searches by defendant name, case number or attorney name.
How to search by defendant name
-
Start on the Justice Court website.
Select the court’s Case Search link in the quick resources area.
-
Choose Criminal Case Records.
Do not confuse criminal case searches with civil records or traffic-payment-only services.
-
Select Defendant search.
Enter the person’s first and last names. The court’s search guide identifies both fields as required for a criminal name search.
-
Use optional details.
Add middle name, date of birth, case status or filing-date range when known and supported.
-
Open the matching case number.
Read the available Register of Actions, charges, hearing information and case status.
-
Verify the actual court record.
When you need a disposition or certified document, contact Las Vegas Justice Court directly.
Helpful name-search features
The Justice Court’s published search guidance supports using an asterisk (*) as a wildcard for uncertain name spelling. For example, a partial last name followed by an asterisk can help find variations.
Its guide also notes that searches returning more than 200 matches can display only the first 200 results. Add a filing-date range or other reliable criteria instead of interpreting the initial result list as complete.

- Boulder City
- Bunkerville

These are Justice Court jurisdictions, not necessarily the same as the separately operated city Municipal Courts.
Search the other Clark County Justice Courts
-
Open Clark County Justice Court Public Access.
Use the county’s official public-access search.
-
Accept the terms.
Read the court’s disclaimer about publicly available case information.
-
Search by name, case number or ticket number.
Use the identifier you know. A precise case number usually produces a narrower result than a name-only search.

Confirm that the case belongs to the Justice Court where the matter was filed.
-
Contact the court for official documents.
Use the Justice Courts directory to find the correct township clerk and copy-request process.
Important local courthouse distinctions
Henderson Justice Court
243 Water Street, Henderson, NV 89015. Use the county Justice Court search for its qualifying cases.
North Las Vegas Justice Court
2428 North Martin Luther King Boulevard, North Las Vegas, NV 89032. Its records include criminal, traffic and qualifying civil matters.

101 Civic Way, Suite 2, Laughlin, NV 89029. Use the Laughlin township rather than assuming the case is filed in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas and Henderson Municipal Court Criminal Records
Municipal Courts handle qualifying city misdemeanor, ordinance and traffic matters. A case associated with an address in Las Vegas or Henderson may be filed in Municipal Court rather than the county Justice Court.
Las Vegas Municipal Court
The city provides a separate criminal case and docket service. Its case search can help find a defendant’s matters and scheduled events.
Address: 100 E. Clark Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
Phone: (702) 382-6878
Search Las Vegas Municipal Cases ↗Henderson Municipal Court
The city maintains a separate public case-management search. It provides limited public case information and directs users to the court for official verification.
Phone: (702) 267-3300
Search Henderson Municipal Cases ↗For North Las Vegas, Mesquite or Boulder City municipal matters, use the relevant city’s official court website. Do not assume the county Justice Court database includes every city Municipal Court filing.
How to Request Certified Clark County Criminal Court Records
A public docket can show filings, hearings and case status, but some legal, licensing or administrative purposes require the actual certified court document.
For District Court criminal cases, the Eighth Judicial District Court Clerk accepts requests for plain copies, certified copies and exemplified copies.
-
Find the court case number.
Search the District Court Portal or obtain the case number from the relevant court record.
-
Choose the document.
Identify whether you need a complaint, indictment, judgment, sentencing order, dismissal, minute order or another filing.
-
Download the Clerk’s copy-request form.
Use the form linked from the Records Search and Viewing page.
-
Specify the certification type.
Select plain, certified or exemplified copy, depending on what the receiving organization requires.
-
Submit the request.
Email the completed request to the Records Division or submit it by mail, following the Clerk’s instructions.
-
Confirm fees and delivery.
Ask whether the document will be held for pickup or mailed. Larger requests and archived materials can take longer.

How to Request Your Nevada Criminal-History Record
Nevada’s State Police Records, Communications and Compliance Division manages the statewide Criminal History Repository.
A public District Court or Justice Court case search is not the same as an official fingerprint-verified Nevada criminal-history record.
The repository provides a process for individuals to request their own records. It does not operate as a free public database of every person’s confidential criminal history.
How to request your personal record
-
Open the Nevada Criminal History Records Request page.
Use the official Nevada State Police site to choose the appropriate request method.
-
Choose in-state electronic or out-of-state manual submission.
The current state instructions distinguish electronic requests available from within Nevada from manual requests submitted from outside the state.
-
Complete the required identifying information.
Follow the request instructions and prepare the necessary identity documents and fingerprints.
-
Arrange fingerprint capture.
If mailing a fingerprint card, use an authorized technician and the appropriate original fingerprint card.
-
Check current fees.
The state publishes fees by request type. Do not assume an authorized employment FBI-plus-state background check costs the same as an individual’s personal record review.
-
Submit to the state repository.
Mail or transmit the request by the approved route, then retain any submission receipt.
Nevada criminal-history request fees in 2026
Nevada’s published DPS-006 personal-history request form lists a $27 processing fee for that form, excluding any fingerprint-taking service charge.
Separately, Nevada published a new fingerprint-processing fee schedule effective October 1, 2026. It lists $40 for a standard combined state-and-FBI fingerprint-based submission and $32.50 for the qualifying volunteer category. These are separate authorized fingerprint-submission categories and must not be confused with the personal-history request.

Clark County Detention Center Inmate Search
The Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) provides an official public search for people currently in its custody.
This lookup is different from a criminal court record. It shows custody information that may include people awaiting trial, people serving sentences and people being held for other jurisdictions.
How to search CCDC inmates
-
Open the official county inmate-search page.
Use the detention center’s public In-Custody Search.
-
Enter an inmate identifier.
The system accepts at least two letters of the last name, an inmate ID or a Justice Court case number.
-
Use only one search field.
The official search instructs users to enter one field at a time.
-
Open the possible match.
Review the available custody information and compare identifying details.
-
Verify urgent information.
For the most current custody status, call the CCDC information line.
The county explains that people arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police may be held in CCDC or Las Vegas City Jail depending on the arrest location. Henderson and North Las Vegas also have separate detention resources.

How to understand a Clark County case disposition
A case may show an arrest, complaint, preliminary hearing, guilty plea, trial, dismissal, sentence or appeal. These entries describe different stages of the proceeding.
In particular, a case marked closed does not by itself establish a conviction. Check the final judgment and any subsequent orders. A dismissed criminal charge and a conviction are not interchangeable outcomes.
Sealed and Restricted Clark County Criminal Records
Nevada permits certain qualifying criminal records to be sealed through a court process. Eligibility and timing depend on the offense, outcome, prior history and applicable Nevada Revised Statutes.
The Eighth Judicial District Court explains that sealed cases are not available through ordinary public internet searches. For some authorized parties, access may require identification, an application or a court order.
A record-sealing order can involve the original court and other agencies identified in that order. If a previously visible case is now missing, a sealing order is one possible explanation—but it is not proof of why no result appeared.
