For criminal scheduling questions, the Clerk directs users to the Solicitor’s Office at 864-898-5905. First and second appearances have separate notification procedures; the county says the first-appearance date is shown on bond paperwork and second-appearance notices are mailed.

What Appears in Pickens County Criminal Records?
A criminal case may move through several stages before reaching a final disposition. The records available to the public depend on the state, filing court, reporting agency and legal restrictions.
| Record | What it may show | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Criminal court docket | Filed charges, parties, hearings, orders and recorded disposition. | Official judicial case search or Clerk. |
| Indictment or charging instrument | The criminal charges formally alleged. | Court handling the prosecution. |
| Certified judgment or dismissal | The court’s formal order and outcome. | Clerk of the original court. |
| Jail booking or inmate entry | Available detention or custody details. | The Sheriff or jail operator. |
| Arrest or incident report | Law-enforcement account of an arrest or reported incident. | The agency that prepared the report. |
| State criminal-history report | Information maintained and releasable by the state’s criminal-history repository. | SLED, Georgia GCIC or Alabama ALEA, as appropriate. |
| Federal criminal case | Federal prosecution and available docket information. | PACER or the federal court clerk. |
How to read a case disposition
The terms arrested, charged, arraigned, indicted, dismissed, acquitted and convicted describe different events. An arrest or formal charge does not establish guilt.
Review the final court order before concluding how a criminal matter ended. A case may have multiple charges with different outcomes.
Can Pickens County Criminal Records Be Expunged?
South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama have different laws for removing, restricting or limiting access to qualifying criminal records. Eligibility cannot be determined from the county name alone.
Expungement
The Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office generally handles applicable expungement applications for General Sessions matters.
For qualifying dismissed Magistrate or Municipal Court cases, SLED directs applicants to the relevant lower court.
An expungement requires the appropriate legal process and order.
SC Expungement Guide ↗Record Restriction
Georgia has a record-restriction process governed by state law and the case’s arrest date and outcome.
For qualifying arrests before July 1, 2013, applications generally begin with the arresting agency.
Later arrests have a different restriction process.
GA Record Restriction ↗Expungement
Alabama permits expungement of specified eligible criminal records under state law.
The applicable procedure depends on the charges, disposition, waiting periods and other statutory criteria.
Obtain the case documents and consult the current judicial forms and Clerk instructions.

What information should you provide the Clerk?
- Correct state and county.
- Defendant’s full name, if legally available.
- Case number, indictment number or warrant number.
- Approximate arrest or filing year.
- Court handling the case.
- Specific document requested, such as a judgment or dismissal order.
- Whether certification is required.
- Preferred permitted delivery method.
Never submit sensitive identification details to a third-party search form when they can be provided directly to the government custodian through an authorized channel.
Can Pickens County Criminal Records Be Used for Background Checks?
Public court records can identify cases and recorded outcomes, but they are not necessarily complete criminal background reports.
For employment, housing, licensing and other regulated eligibility decisions, the Fair Credit Reporting Act and applicable state law may require authorization, notices, a proper consumer report and an opportunity to dispute inaccuracies.
A jail booking does not establish conviction. A common name can lead to an incorrect identity match. Review the final disposition and use lawful identity verification before relying on the information.
