Williamson County Criminal Records Search: Court Cases, Arrests, Dockets & Public Records

Looking for Williamson County criminal records? First identify the state. There are three different counties named Williamson County in the United States: Texas, Tennessee and Illinois.

Each county maintains separate criminal court case records, docket calendars, sheriff records and public-records request procedures. Searching Williamson County, Texas, will not show criminal cases filed in Franklin, Tennessee, or Marion, Illinois.

Texas County seat: Georgetown

Use the county’s official Odyssey Judicial Records system for available felony and misdemeanor case information, court calendars and jail records.

Search Texas Criminal Cases
Tennessee County seat: Franklin

Use the Williamson County Circuit Court Clerk for Circuit Criminal and General Sessions Criminal cases, records and docket information.

Find Tennessee Court Records
Illinois County seat: Marion

The Williamson County Circuit Clerk links directly to its criminal case search on Judici and accepts official record requests.

Search Illinois Court Cases
Important: A criminal court case, arrest report, jail booking, statewide criminal-history search and certified judgment are different records. An arrest or criminal charge does not establish that a person was convicted.
Independent website notice: CriminalCourtRecord.org is not operated by any Williamson County government, courthouse, sheriff’s office, state criminal-history repository or federal agency. This page provides public-information guidance and official links. It does not conduct background checks or issue certified records.

Where to Search Williamson County Criminal Records

Start with the county where the alleged offense was prosecuted. The person’s current home address is not necessarily the location of the criminal case. If you have a citation, indictment, court notice or case number, use it to identify the proper court.

Location Primary criminal court custodian Online search method Certified records
Williamson County, TX District Clerk for district-court cases; County Clerk for Class A/B misdemeanors Odyssey Judicial Records Correct Texas District Clerk or County Clerk
Williamson County, TN Circuit Court Clerk for Circuit and General Sessions criminal cases Official court records information and clerk-assisted lookup Circuit Court Clerk in Franklin
Williamson County, IL Circuit Clerk Judici, linked by the official county website Circuit Clerk in Marion
1. Identify the state Texas, Tennessee or Illinois
2. Find the court case Case number, name or docket
3. Confirm the outcome Final disposition or certified order

A public court search is often the quickest way to locate a case. For an identity-verified state criminal-history response, use the applicable state agency rather than assuming a single county’s records cover an entire state.

Williamson County, Texas — Georgetown

Williamson County, Texas Criminal Records Search

Williamson County, Texas provides a public Judicial Records Inquiry powered by Odyssey Public Access. Its search includes criminal case records, civil records, court calendars, jail records and bond information.

The county’s public access system provides separate choices for court records and scheduled criminal proceedings. This makes it possible to locate a case and check available court dates without first knowing the assigned judge.

What can you search in the Texas Judicial Records system?

The county’s published portal identifies these public search categories:

  • Criminal Case Records.
  • Civil, Family and Probate Case Records.
  • County Court at Law No. 1 criminal and civil dockets.
  • County Court at Law No. 2 criminal and civil dockets.
  • County Court at Law No. 3 criminal and civil dockets.
  • County Court at Law No. 5 criminal and civil dockets.
  • District court docket searches for the 26th, 277th, 368th and 512th District Courts.
  • Separate docket options for the 425th and 480th District Courts.
  • Justice of the Peace court calendars where available.
  • Jail records and jail bond records.

These are separate portal choices. A person looking for a felony court hearing may need a district-court docket, while someone searching a Class A or B misdemeanor should begin with the county criminal case records.

Step-by-step Texas criminal case search

  1. Open the official county records portal

Visit the Williamson County Judicial Records Inquiry. If the portal is unavailable, start from the county’s Court Case Lookup page.

  2. Select Criminal Case Records

Use the criminal search option rather than Civil, Family and Probate Case Records. If you only need an upcoming hearing, the applicable court docket may be more useful.

  3. Search by case number or defendant

Use the full case number when known. Otherwise, use the person’s name and available court or date filters.

  4. Compare the court and identifying details

Check the case number, filing date, court assignment, charge description and other publicly displayed details before assuming a match.

  5. Read the docket and disposition

Look for hearing events, plea entries, dismissal orders, judgments and sentencing information where available.

  6. Request documents from the correct clerk

District-court felony records are handled by the District Clerk. Class A/B misdemeanor records are handled by the County Clerk.

District Clerk — Texas felony records

The Williamson County District Clerk maintains the court pleadings, documents and judgments for cases handled in the district courts. This is the relevant office for most district-court felony record requests.

2026 courthouse access update: Beginning August 1, 2026, the Williamson County District Clerk no longer accepts new walk-in customers after 4:30 p.m. Its notice also explains that ordinary noncertified copy requests can be handled electronically, but certified copies cannot be emailed. Certified records must be mailed or collected through the authorised process.

The District Clerk provides a Records Request Form (PDF) for document requests. The form asks for the case or cause number, party name, requested documents and preferred copy type.

County Clerk — Texas misdemeanor records

Williamson County’s County Clerk maintains Class A and Class B misdemeanor cases filed in the County Courts at Law. The office also maintains records for civil and probate matters, but criminal cases should be searched through the relevant criminal records or court division.

For a misdemeanor case, the County Clerk is the relevant record custodian. Do not send a Class A/B misdemeanor copy request to the District Clerk merely because both offices are located in Georgetown.

Texas Justice Court and municipal criminal matters

Class C misdemeanor cases may be handled by a Justice of the Peace or Municipal Court. Examples include certain fine-only offenses and traffic citations.

A municipal case in Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Taylor or another city may require a search through the specific municipal court.

Use the court shown on the citation or notice. Not every fine-only criminal or traffic record is kept within the District Clerk’s felony files.

Williamson County, Tennessee — Franklin

Williamson County, Tennessee Criminal Records Search

Williamson County, Tennessee is part of the state’s 21st Judicial District. Criminal cases are handled through Circuit Criminal Court and General Sessions Criminal Court.

The Williamson County Circuit Court Clerk maintains records for both Circuit Court and General Sessions Court. The distinction between these two court levels is important.

Circuit Criminal Court

This office handles criminal matters involving grand jury proceedings, indictments, trial dockets, appeals from lower courts and other cases assigned to Circuit Criminal Court.

Use this court when the case has been indicted or is being prosecuted at the Circuit Court level.

General Sessions Criminal Court

General Sessions Court handles criminal warrants, bond matters, preliminary proceedings, traffic cases and other matters within its jurisdiction.

A case may begin in General Sessions and later proceed to Circuit Criminal Court, depending on the charge and subsequent proceedings.

How to find a Tennessee criminal case

  1. Identify the criminal court level

Check the summons, criminal warrant, case number or attorney’s paperwork. Determine whether it names Circuit Criminal Court or General Sessions Criminal Court.

  2. Open the official Circuit Court Clerk page

Use the county government website rather than an unrelated people-search or advertising site.

  3. Contact the correct criminal division

For Circuit Criminal, call 615-790-5411. For General Sessions Criminal, call 615-790-5478. Ask about available case-search or docket-access methods.

  4. Provide the available case identifiers

A case number, defendant name, approximate filing date and court type can help the clerk locate the correct file.

  5. Verify the disposition

If the matter began in General Sessions and was later indicted, ask whether a separate Circuit Criminal case exists.

  6. Request copies from the custodian

Specify the final disposition, court order, judgment or docket sheet you need. Confirm any applicable copy or certification charges.

Tennessee case-routing tip: The Circuit Criminal and General Sessions Criminal divisions share an overall clerk organisation, but their case records serve different procedural stages. Searching only one court level may not explain the entire history of a criminal prosecution.

Historical Williamson County, Tennessee criminal cases

For older criminal court records, Williamson County Archives maintains an official historical online index. This is particularly useful when a modern case-search system does not cover the desired year.

The Archives index lists Circuit Court materials from 1805 through 2004, including civil and criminal cases. Its separate County Court index covers historical material from 1800 through 1982.

These date ranges describe the Archives’ indexed collections; they do not mean that every historical case file has a complete document image online.

Don’t confuse the Tennessee County Clerk with the court clerk

In Williamson County, Tennessee, the County Clerk’s office handles services such as vehicle registration and other administrative functions. For Circuit Criminal or General Sessions case documents, use the Circuit Court Clerk.

This distinction is different from Williamson County, Texas, where the County Clerk directly maintains Class A/B misdemeanor criminal court records.

Williamson County, Illinois — Marion

Williamson County, Illinois Criminal Records Search

Williamson County, Illinois criminal case records are maintained by the Williamson County Circuit Clerk. The county belongs to the First Judicial Circuit of Illinois.

Unlike the Texas court system, Illinois uses a unified Circuit Court structure for trial-level cases. The Circuit Clerk maintains filings for felony, misdemeanor, traffic and other matters assigned to the court.

The county government website links its public case search to Judici, an external court-information provider.

How to search Illinois Williamson County court cases

  1. Open the official Circuit Clerk website

Go to the county’s Circuit Clerk page. Under Resources, select View Williamson Co. Case Info.

  2. Continue to Judici

The official link opens Williamson County’s Judici search page. If a human-verification screen appears, complete the verification before continuing.

  3. Search the correct county

Confirm that the selected court is Williamson County, Illinois. Do not mistake it for Will County, which is a different Illinois county.

  4. Search using available case details

Use a case number or party name as supported by the portal. Compare any matching records carefully before opening a case.

  5. Review available docket events

Look for hearings, criminal charges, court orders and final disposition information where publicly displayed.

  6. Contact the Circuit Clerk for official records

If you need a certified copy, an older document, a record not displayed online or help interpreting an incomplete search, contact the official clerk’s office.

Historical Illinois search tip: Judici’s published coverage information lists Williamson County criminal and civil files from 1986, along with older cases that were still pending at that time. Older closed records may require a clerk-assisted search.

  • Traffic: 618-997-1301, extension 3426.
  • Appeals: 618-997-1301, extension 3432.
  • Expungements: 618-997-1301, extension 3432.
  • Juvenile: 618-997-1301, extension 3448.

These extensions can help avoid contacting the wrong court office for a record or procedural question. The clerk cannot provide legal advice.

Illinois records caution: Judici is the court-linked public search provider, but the actual official case file remains with the Circuit Clerk. A Judici case summary should not be represented as a certified court judgment.

Williamson County Criminal Records Search Fees

A county court case search, a certified court document and a state criminal-history check have different prices. The published fees below come from the respective courts or criminal-history agencies.

State and service Published cost What the fee covers
Texas District Clerk civil/criminal record search $5 per search Williamson County TX District Clerk records, under its February 2026 fee schedule
Texas District Clerk paper copy $1 per page Ordinary paper copy from the District Clerk
Texas District Clerk electronic copy $0.10 per page, $1 minimum per document Published electronic document-copy schedule
Texas District Clerk certification Additional $5 per certified copy Certification fee added to applicable copy costs
Tennessee TBI public criminal-history check $29 per request Tennessee-only, name-based criminal-history search; nonrefundable
Illinois State Police public conviction inquiry $16 manual or $10 electronic UCIA name-based conviction-information inquiry
Illinois State Police Access and Review No state processing fee Personal fingerprint-based record review; fingerprint vendor charges may apply
Tennessee and Illinois certified county court copies Confirm with the clerk Copy, certification and delivery charges depend on the particular request

The Texas District Clerk fees above are drawn from its published schedule effective February 1, 2026. They do not automatically apply to the Texas County Clerk’s misdemeanor documents.

For Illinois, the State Police also publishes fingerprint-based check fees that depend on the selected state, FBI or combined process. An employer-directed check can have different requirements from a public conviction inquiry.

Williamson County Arrest Records, Jail Records and Inmate Search

An arrest report or jail record comes from a law-enforcement or correctional agency, not necessarily from the court that later handles a prosecution.

When an arrest has no matching court case

A recent arrest may not yet have resulted in a filed criminal prosecution. Alternatively, the charge may have been filed in another court, declined or otherwise resolved.

Start with the agency that made the arrest. If a case was filed, use the court’s docket to determine what happened after the arrest.

Do not infer guilt from a booking: A jail entry shows custody-related information. It does not necessarily establish a conviction, guilty plea or final court judgment.

Statewide Williamson County Criminal Background Checks

The appropriate state criminal-history agency depends on whether the county is in Texas, Tennessee or Illinois.

Texas DPS Criminal History

Texas DPS operates its public Criminal History Conviction Name Search for publicly releasable Texas conviction and qualifying deferred-adjudication information.

This paid name-search service is separate from a Williamson County trial-court docket.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation

TBI offers a Tennessee-only public criminal-history search through its Tennessee Open Records Information Services.

The current public name-based fee is $29 per request. The check is Tennessee-only and is not an FBI nationwide fingerprint response.

Illinois State Police

The Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification provides public conviction-history requests under the Uniform Conviction Information Act.

Name-based inquiries are handled through the CHIRP process and applicable registration requirements.

Checking or correcting your own criminal history

If you believe a state criminal-history record contains an error, a court docket alone may not be enough to correct the repository entry.

Illinois provides a specific fingerprint-based Access and Review process for people seeking their own criminal-history transcript. Illinois State Police does not charge for processing the Access and Review or Record Challenge submission, although a fingerprint vendor may charge for collecting prints.

Texas DPS also offers a fingerprint-based personal criminal-history review. Tennessee has separate background-check processes for public name checks and authorised fingerprint checks.

How to Request Certified Williamson County Criminal Court Records

A certified criminal judgment or disposition is issued by the court’s official records custodian, not by a private people-search website.

  1. Confirm the correct Williamson County

Identify Texas, Tennessee or Illinois using the case paperwork or filing court.

  2. Identify the specific trial court

For Texas, determine whether the case belongs to a district, county, justice or municipal court. For Tennessee, distinguish Circuit Criminal and General Sessions. For Illinois, use the Circuit Clerk.

  3. Locate the case number

Search the available official case portal or ask the clerk for the applicable search procedure. Include the defendant’s legal name and an approximate filing date when necessary.

  4. Specify the document needed

A judgment of conviction, sentencing order, dismissal, court disposition, docket sheet or other case document may serve different purposes.

  5. Ask whether certification is required

Plain copies and certified copies can have different fees and delivery methods.

  6. Confirm payment and delivery

Use the clerk’s official instructions. Verify whether the record can be ordered online, by mail or in person.

  7. Review the completed record

Confirm the correct court, case number, person and final disposition.

A practical example

Suppose someone was arrested in Georgetown, Texas, but the charge later became a district-court felony case. The Sheriff’s arrest report would not be the same as the District Clerk’s final judgment.

A request for proof of conviction or dismissal should identify the felony court’s cause number and ask the District Clerk for the correct certified judgment or order.

Similarly, a case beginning in General Sessions Court in Franklin, Tennessee may later have a related Circuit Criminal proceeding. A researcher should confirm the court handling the final disposition before requesting copies.

Record request wording: “I am requesting a certified copy of the final disposition in criminal case [case number], filed in [court and county]. Please confirm the record’s availability, total fee and request procedure.”

Why Can’t I Find a Williamson County Criminal Record?

A case may not appear online because the wrong county, state, court or record type was searched. Some documents are not available through public internet access.

Problem Possible cause What to do
Name search returns no results Wrong state, spelling, alias or court Confirm the county and try a case number or alternate legal name
Texas felony missing Looking only at county misdemeanor court records Search district-court case records and contact the District Clerk
Texas Class C case not found Filed in a municipal or Justice of the Peace court Check the citation for the specific court
Tennessee case appears to stop at preliminary hearing Subsequent proceedings may be in Circuit Criminal Court Ask the Circuit Court Clerk about related case numbers and indictments
Tennessee historical record missing online Modern search does not cover an old case Consult the county Archives index and request archive assistance
Illinois Judici does not load Human-verification requirement or service availability issue Enter through the official Circuit Clerk’s website or contact the clerk
Illinois case is older than online coverage Record predates the available index or has not been digitised Ask the Circuit Clerk for a historical file search
Arrest appears but no conviction Charges may not have been filed, may still be pending or may have been dismissed Confirm the status through the prosecuting court
Record has been expunged or sealed Applicable court order or confidentiality law Seek lawful access guidance; do not attempt to bypass restrictions
Federal criminal case not found Federal prosecutions are held in a separate judiciary system Use PACER or the appropriate federal court clerk
No online result is not proof of a clean record. The searched system may exclude certain case types, older records, restricted matters or cases filed in another jurisdiction.

Expunged, Sealed and Restricted Williamson County Records

Each state has its own rules for access to criminal-history records and for expungement, sealing or nondisclosure.

Texas

Texas provides expunction and orders of nondisclosure for qualifying cases. The two procedures have different legal effects and eligibility conditions.

Texas Legal Guide →

Tennessee

Tennessee has criminal-record expungement procedures for qualifying matters. Eligibility depends on the offense, disposition and applicable law.

Tennessee Judicial Branch →

Illinois

Illinois has separate expungement and sealing procedures. The Williamson County Circuit Clerk identifies a dedicated expungements contact extension.

Illinois Court Forms →

A dismissed case is not automatically absent from every record system. Likewise, a case’s disappearance from a public online index does not necessarily establish that it was expunged.

For questions about a particular case’s eligibility, contact a qualified attorney in the state where it was filed.

Can Williamson County Criminal Records Be Used for Background Screening?

Public criminal case searches can help locate court records, but they are not automatically complete or legally compliant background checks.

A county search might omit criminal history from other counties, states, federal courts or restricted record systems.

  • Confirm the correct person’s identity before relying on a name match.
  • Distinguish arrest records from convictions.
  • Review the final court disposition, not merely the original charge.
  • Respect expungement, sealing and other restrictions.
  • Use certified records when an official document is required.
  • Follow applicable federal and state laws for employment or housing screening.

When a consumer reporting agency provides a background report for regulated eligibility purposes, the Fair Credit Reporting Act may require authorisation, notices and other protections.

Review the Federal Trade Commission’s employer background-check guidance before using criminal-record information for employment decisions.
