How to Search Brazoria County Criminal Records Online

Brazoria County’s current judicial case search uses the Tyler PublicAccess platform.

The county provides a direct link from the County Clerk’s official Criminal, Civil & Probate records page. The District Clerk also uses the public court search to direct visitors to criminal case information.

Step-by-step: Find a criminal case by defendant name

  1. Open the official judicial records portal.

Visit portal-txbrazoria.tylertech.cloud/PublicAccess. Use the official county government website as your starting point if a bookmarked portal address changes.

  2. Choose Criminal Records.

Select the criminal case-search option rather than the Civil, Family & Probate records search.

  3. Select the appropriate court location.

Use the location picker to identify the applicable District, County Court at Law or participating Justice of the Peace court. If you are not sure which court handled the matter, begin with the case classification shown on the citation or arrest paperwork.

  4. Change Search By to Defendant.

The County Clerk’s published criminal-search instructions specifically direct users who do not know the case number to select Defendant from the Search By dropdown.

  5. Enter the defendant’s name.

Follow the portal’s field format. The County Clerk describes searching by last name, first name, with date of birth where the field is offered and the information is available.

  6. Run the search and compare results.

Review the listed defendant names, charges, cause numbers and filing details. Do not assume that a similar name identifies the person you intended to search.

  7. Open the matching case number.

Click the case number to view the available criminal case summary.

  8. Review the Events & Orders of the Court.

This part of the case record may show scheduled hearings, court activities, filed orders, charge information and the available final disposition.

  9. Write down the cause number.

Save the case number, court name, defendant’s name and relevant document dates. The County Clerk specifically advises having the cause number before contacting its office for case assistance.

  10. Request the official document when necessary.

For a certified judgment, dismissal or other document that cannot be obtained through the public case search, contact the responsible Clerk.

Do not use the property records portal for criminal cases. Brazoria County has separate land and vital-record search services. Criminal court case requests belong under Criminal, Civil & Probate Court Records, not the real property search.

What can appear in a Brazoria criminal case search?

  • Defendant and case identification
  • Cause or case number
  • Assigned criminal court
  • Charge descriptions and applicable case details
  • Scheduled hearing dates and times
  • Events and orders of the court
  • Available disposition information
  • Relevant judgment or sentence entries

The public index may not include every underlying document image. Sealed, expunged and otherwise confidential records have separate access restrictions.

District Clerk felony records search certificates

The District Clerk provides a separate paid Felony Records Search for individuals who need staff-assisted research rather than simply browsing the public court docket.

$5

Felony name search

Covers the Clerk’s published searchable felony records from 1987 to the present.

$5

Felony record certificate

The Clerk can issue a Certificate of Felony Found or Certificate of No Felony Found, for an additional charge.

Searching periods older than the regular coverage requires an additional $5 for each further 10-year period.

A county felony search is not a statewide background check. A Certificate of No Felony Found concerns the District Clerk’s specified search and records coverage. It does not establish that the subject has never been charged or convicted elsewhere in Texas or the United States.

How to submit a paid felony record search request

  1. Open the District Clerk’s Records Search Request page.

Choose the appropriate Felony Records Search service.

  2. Select the search period.

Determine whether the standard 1987-to-present search is sufficient or additional historical periods are required.

  3. Calculate the appropriate fee.

Include the $5 certificate fee if you need a Certificate of Felony Found or No Felony Found.

  4. Pay through Certified Payments.

Use the District Clerk’s published bureau code 4375276.

  5. Record your Payment ID.

Save the payment confirmation because the Clerk requires it on the online request form.

  6. Return to the request form.

Complete the requested identifying, contact and search-period information.

  7. Submit the request.

Follow the Clerk’s instructions for receiving the search result or certificate.

05 / Criminal court dates and hearing dockets

How to Find Brazoria County Criminal Court Dates

If you are looking for an arraignment, pretrial hearing, plea setting, trial or sentencing date, begin with the judicial case docket.

The County Clerk publishes online criminal case information under Events & Orders of the Court, including available hearing date, time and assigned court details.

Check a misdemeanor hearing date

  1. Open the Brazoria Judicial Records Search.

    Select Criminal Records.

  2. Find your County Court at Law case.

Search by cause number or defendant name.

  3. Open the case number.

Confirm that it belongs to the correct defendant.

  4. Review Events & Orders of the Court.

Find the available scheduled hearing date, time and court information.

  5. Confirm a possible change with the court coordinator.

Use the assigned County Court at Law contact number when necessary.

What if the court date is not online?

The County Clerk’s criminal FAQ explains that notices may be mailed approximately two to three weeks before a scheduled court date to the relevant people listed on a bond.

It also advises checking with the bondsman if the case is not appearing and the expected time for docketing has passed.

Do not independently change a court date. The County Clerk states that only the presiding judge can reset a court date. The Clerk’s staff do not establish or reset judicial settings.

Felony hearing information

For a District Court felony matter, search the case using the judicial records portal.

If you need assistance with a felony court setting or rescheduling procedure, the District Clerk directs users to the Court Administrator.

06 / Official judgments and certified records

How to Obtain Certified Brazoria County Criminal Court Records

If you need official proof of a conviction, dismissal, acquittal, deferred adjudication or sentence, obtain the appropriate document from the Clerk maintaining the original case.

A screenshot of a public docket is not necessarily an acceptable certified court document.

Which Clerk should receive the request?

Felony judgment or indictment

Request from the Brazoria County District Clerk’s Records Department.

Official records office: 237 East Locust Street, Suite 206, Angleton.

Misdemeanor judgment or dismissal

Request from the Brazoria County Clerk for qualifying County Courts at Law criminal cases.

Use the County Clerk’s separate court records email and payment instructions.

District Clerk criminal document copy fees

District Clerk document service Published charge
Existing digital noncertified copy, 1–10 pages $1 minimum
Existing digital noncertified copy over 10 pages $0.10 per page above the included pages
Certified digital court document $1 per page + $5 per document certification
Paper court document copy $1 per page
Microfilm reproduction $1 per page
Clerk-assisted records search, if required Additional $5

The District Clerk’s posted digital-copy pricing applies to electronic documents already in its case-management system. Older files requiring scanning or microfilm reproduction can have different charges.

How to request District Court copies online

  1. Locate the case in PublicAccess.

Find the cause number and identify the specific event or document.

  2. Record the document details.

Write down the case number, document description, filing date and number of pages when known.

  3. Confirm the fee.

If you are unsure of the number of pages or document format, contact the District Clerk at dconlineforms@brazoriacountytx.gov.

  4. Pay using the District Clerk’s payment code.

The District Clerk directs online copy payments through Certified Payments using bureau code 4375276.

  5. Save your Payment ID.

Retain the payment confirmation; it is required to submit the online copy request.

  6. Complete the Clerk’s copy request.

Return to the District Clerk’s Records Department and follow the Request for Copies instructions.

  7. Choose the certification format.

Specify whether you need an electronic certification or paper certification with a raised seal and original signature.

  8. Review the completed documents.

Confirm the court, cause number and disposition before using the copies for any official purpose.

Electronic seal or raised seal: Which should you select?

The District Clerk provides two certification options:

  • Electronic certification: Watermark, page count, electronic seal and electronic signature.
  • Raised-seal certification: Physical seal impression and live signature on a paper-certified record.

The Clerk advises checking with the receiving institution to confirm the accepted certification format before purchasing.

Its instructions also state that the Brazoria County Clerk’s Office does not accept an emailed copy for filing in its recording system when a hard copy with the appropriate certification is required.

Practical detail: If your court document will be submitted to another agency, request that agency’s specific certification requirements first. Ordering the wrong format may mean paying for a second document.

County Clerk misdemeanor document requests

The County Clerk publishes a separate process for obtaining misdemeanor court documents.

Its official copy fees are:

  • Regular court copy: $1 per page.
  • Certified court copy: $1 per page plus $5 per document.
  • Clerk-assisted name search from 1986 onward: $5 per name per court-record type.
  • Clerk-assisted name search before 1986: $10 per name per court-record type.

How to email a misdemeanor records request

  1. Find the criminal cause number.

Use the official judicial records search.

  2. Identify the exact document.

Examples include judgment, order of dismissal or final disposition.

  3. Prepare the required details.

Include cause number, party name, available date of birth, requested document and certification preference.

  4. Provide your contact information.

Include your name, phone number, email and mailing address if a paper-certified copy is needed.

  5. Email the request.

    Send it to CclerkRequests@brazoria-county.com.

  6. Wait for the calculated amount.

The County Clerk instructs requesters not to make a credit-card payment until the total has been confirmed.

  7. Use the correct County Clerk payment code.

For court copy and search payments, use Certified Payments bureau code 6291282 and follow the Clerk’s instructions.

  8. Provide payment confirmation.

Send the confirmation number as directed so the Clerk can process the request.

Do not mix up the county’s payment codes. The District Clerk uses 4375276 for its relevant online record services. The County Clerk uses 6291282 for court copies and searches. The County Clerk’s separate property/vital-record code 3433402 is not the correct code for criminal case copies.
07 / Justice Courts and municipal citations

Brazoria County Justice of the Peace and City Criminal Records

Not every criminal citation arising in Brazoria County goes to a County Court at Law or District Court.

Texas Justice of the Peace courts and municipal courts handle qualifying Class C misdemeanors, traffic citations and local ordinance matters.

These cases can be maintained separately from felony and Class A/B misdemeanor proceedings.

How to find the right Justice of the Peace court

  1. Look at the citation or court notice.

Find the court name, precinct and place number.

  2. Check the county’s JP precinct directory.

Use the official court directory and precinct map.

  3. Open the applicable JP case lookup.

Some precincts use the county’s Tyler portal for criminal cases and court calendars.

  4. Select the correct JP court location.

Do not search a different precinct merely because the defendant lives nearby.

  5. Search by the supported identifier.

Use the case number or citation information requested by the court’s system.

  6. Verify the citation status and scheduled date.

Contact the JP clerk when the result is unclear or needs certification.

Example: Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, Place 1

Brazoria County’s JP Precinct 4, Place 1 in Manvel provides specific official instructions for using the Tyler PublicAccess portal.

The court directs visitors to select JP 4-1 in the location picker and choose Criminal Records to find a criminal case.

It also provides a JP 4-1 Court Calendar within the county system.

Justice of the Peace — Precinct 4, Place 1 3633 County Road 58
Manvel, TX 77578

Phone: (713) 844-1777
Criminal inquiries: jp41@brazoriacountytx.gov

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Pearland, Alvin, Lake Jackson and Angleton municipal records

Municipal courts in Brazoria County communities maintain qualifying city traffic and ordinance matters.

If the citation identifies a city municipal court, start with that city’s official court records or payment portal. A city citation is not necessarily a District Court felony or County Court at Law misdemeanor case.

The original citation should identify which municipal court has jurisdiction. For a certified disposition, contact that court rather than the county District Clerk.

Traffic record warning: Not every traffic ticket is a criminal conviction. The offense classification and final court disposition determine how the matter should be described.
08 / Brazoria Sheriff arrest and inmate records

Brazoria County Jail Inmate and Arrest Records Search

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office operates the Brazoria County Detention Center and maintains jail and custody information separately from the county’s criminal court records.

The county government website provides a jail-records search route and an official Detention Center information page.

How to check Brazoria County custody information

  1. Open the official Brazoria County website.

Use the county’s Inmate and Detention Information and Search link or open the Sheriff’s Detention Center section.

  2. Follow the official jail-records search.

Use the current search interface provided through the county website.

  3. Enter supported identifying information.

Search using the name or other details required by the inmate system.

  4. Review the result carefully.

Confirm the inmate’s available identification and custody details.

  5. Contact the jail for urgent information.

Online jail details can change following release, transfer, court order or another custody event.

  6. Search the corresponding court case.

Use the judicial records portal to determine whether criminal charges were filed and how they were resolved.

Brazoria County Detention Center 3602 County Road 45
Angleton, TX 77515

Detention Center: (979) 864-2336
Jail information: (979) 864-2240

The jail’s physical location is separate from the District Clerk and County Clerk offices on East Locust Street.

A jail booking is not proof of conviction. A person can be arrested and released, detained before trial or held on another matter. Only the appropriate court record can establish the recorded disposition of a particular charge.

How to request a Brazoria County arrest or police report

If the Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident, contact the Sheriff’s records or public-information service for the applicable request procedure.

For a report prepared by a city police department, contact the actual investigating agency. A Pearland Police report, for example, is not necessarily maintained by the Sheriff’s Office.

Prepare the incident date, location, report number when known, names of involved persons and the specific records requested.

Public access can be limited for active investigations, protected personal information and other legally confidential records.

09 / Texas statewide criminal-history checks

Texas DPS Criminal Records vs. Brazoria County Court Search

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) maintains the state’s Computerized Criminal History system.

Its public Conviction Name Search provides access to qualifying publicly releasable Texas conviction and deferred-adjudication information.

Unlike Brazoria County’s judicial portal, DPS searches information reported to the state repository from jurisdictions across Texas.

Brazoria County court search

Best for finding a specific county criminal court proceeding and its available docket.

Provides local information about charges, court dates and case outcomes.

Public portal: Free.

Texas DPS name search

Best for obtaining publicly releasable statewide Texas criminal-history information.

Requires a public search account and purchase of search credits.

Public online credit: $3 per search credit, plus applicable transaction charges.

How to conduct a Texas DPS public criminal-history search

  1. Open the official DPS Conviction Name Search.

Use the public site, not the restricted agency Secure Site.

  2. Create a public user account.

Follow the registration and sign-in instructions.

  3. Purchase the required search credits.

Review the current price and card-related charges before checkout.

  4. Enter the subject’s identifying information.

Use accurate first and last names and other requested details.

  5. Review potential matches.

Do not assume every similarly named result belongs to the intended person.

  6. Verify significant findings.

Confirm the original criminal case in the relevant court, especially when a disposition is missing or ambiguous.

Can you request your own fingerprint-based Texas record?

Yes. Texas DPS has a separate Personal Review process for obtaining an individual’s fingerprint-associated criminal-history information.

This process is useful when reviewing your own complete state record or investigating a possible mistaken-identity match.

DPS provides Personal Review instructions through its Fingerprinting Services page. A state processing fee and fingerprint-provider charges apply.

State records can still be incomplete. DPS reporting depends on information received from Texas criminal justice agencies. A name-based check can miss or incorrectly match a record. It also does not provide a complete nationwide criminal-history search.

Card processors may add convenience fees. Ask for the final total before making a payment.

11 / Restricted, sealed and expunged records

Are Brazoria County Criminal Records Public?

Many adult criminal court case records are public under Texas law, but access depends on the record type and legal restrictions.

Certain juvenile, sealed, expunged or otherwise confidential matters cannot be viewed through ordinary public search tools.

What if a criminal record was expunged?

Texas provides expunction procedures for qualifying cases under the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

An expunction order can require affected agencies to remove or restrict covered records under applicable law.

Eligibility depends on the charge, prosecution, disposition, waiting period and other statutory conditions.

What about orders of nondisclosure?

An order of nondisclosure is different from expunction.

It restricts public disclosure of qualifying criminal-history information but may allow specified criminal justice agencies and other legally authorized entities to access covered information.

A deferred adjudication does not automatically become invisible to every public record search simply because supervision ended.

How does the District Clerk handle a sealed-file request?

The Brazoria County District Clerk’s Records Department states that obtaining copies from a sealed case requires judicial review of a motion and order to unseal.

Its published procedure identifies materials such as the proposed motion and order, affidavit explaining the request, identification and callback details. Additional hearing paperwork may be required for cases handled by the 300th District Court.

These procedures do not mean public access will automatically be granted. The judge determines whether release is permitted.

Do not attempt to bypass a sealing order. If a case is not publicly available, contact the original Clerk to learn whether you qualify for an authorized copy or access procedure.
12 / Missing or incorrect court case information

Why Can’t You Find a Brazoria County Criminal Record?

An empty court-search result does not prove that a person has no criminal history. The case may be filed in another court, too recent, restricted or stored under different identifying information.

Search problem Possible reason Recommended action
Felony not found in County Clerk misdemeanor search Felony records belong to the District Clerk Search the District Court criminal records
Class A or B misdemeanor missing from felony search Case may be held by a County Court at Law Use the County Clerk criminal case search
Traffic citation missing The case may remain in municipal or JP court Contact the issuing court on the citation
Recent misdemeanor not appearing Formal filing or entry may not be completed Check with the bondsman or appropriate Clerk
Cause number not known The original case paperwork is unavailable Search by Defendant or request a Clerk-assisted search
Court event or hearing not showing Setting may be pending or updated Confirm with the assigned court coordinator
Older file or document image unavailable Archival or microfilm records may require research Contact the Clerk’s Records Department
Record not accessible publicly Sealing, expunction or confidentiality may apply Follow the court’s authorized-access process
Court case exists but DPS has no match DPS and county court databases have different reporting scopes Review the final court disposition
An arrest exists but no conviction is shown Charges may be pending, dismissed or never filed Check the court’s final action on each charge

What if the record shows a charge but no final disposition?

A charge may be followed by dismissal, conviction, acquittal, deferred adjudication or another result.

If the public case summary does not clearly identify the final outcome, request the relevant judgment or order from the Clerk.

A criminal complaint or indictment establishes that an allegation was formally made. It does not establish conviction.

How to correct an inaccurate Texas criminal-history entry

If the mistake is in the original court docket, contact the Clerk of the court maintaining that case.

If the court record is correct but the statewide Texas DPS record contains an outdated or incorrect entry, follow the DPS criminal-history error-resolution process.

Certified court judgments, dismissal orders or other official documents may be required to support the correction.

Identity warning: A defendant-name search can return multiple people with similar names. Before relying on a result, verify the cause number, court, available identifiers and the final disposition.
