Guadalupe County Criminal Records Search: Cases, Court Dockets and Arrest Records

To search Guadalupe County criminal records in Texas, use the county’s official Tyler Technologies PublicAccess portal. The system provides public criminal case searches, court-calendar information, jail records and jail bond records.

For felony criminal cases, the responsible records office is the Guadalupe County District Clerk. For Class A and Class B misdemeanor cases, contact the Guadalupe County Clerk, which maintains records for the County Courts at Law. Class C fine-only misdemeanor matters may be handled by a Justice of the Peace or municipal court.

If you need an official Texas criminal-history search rather than a Guadalupe County case docket, use the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

County: Guadalupe County, Texas
County seat: Seguin
Nearby communities: Schertz, Cibolo, Marion and surrounding areas

Important: The portal’s criminal case records are not the same as a complete criminal background check. A person can have an arrest record without a conviction, and some sealed, expunged, juvenile or otherwise confidential records are not available to the general public.

Understand local criminal court jurisdiction

Which Guadalupe County Court Handles Criminal Cases?

Texas criminal cases are divided among courts based on offense classification, jurisdiction and sometimes the stage of prosecution.

Court Criminal matters Records custodian
District Courts Felony trials, indictments, sentencing and related proceedings Guadalupe County District Clerk
County Court at Law #2 Class A/B criminal misdemeanors and designated related matters Guadalupe County Clerk

Municipal Courts Eligible city ordinance and fine-only state-law violations City Municipal Court

Guadalupe County District Courts

The county identifies the following district courts serving Guadalupe County:

  • 25th Judicial District Court — judicial office at 211 W. Court Street, Seguin.
  • 2nd 25th Judicial District Court — judicial office at the same courthouse complex.
  • 456th Judicial District Court — another district court serving Guadalupe County.

These courts exercise felony jurisdiction, but the District Clerk is generally the appropriate office for obtaining filed criminal documents and certified records.

What happens after a felony arrest?

A felony defendant may first appear before a magistrate for warnings and a bond decision.

The case may then proceed to indictment and prosecution in District Court.

Consequently, a jail booking, initial magistration and felony district court proceeding may have related but separate records.

Example: A felony arrest in Seguin

Someone is booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center after a felony arrest. The jail maintains the booking and bond information. If the case is subsequently prosecuted in District Court, the District Clerk maintains the criminal case filings and final judgment. To establish whether there was a conviction, search the court record rather than relying on the jail entry alone.

District Court criminal case files

Guadalupe County Felony Criminal Records Search

The District Clerk is the official custodian of pleadings, judgments, court orders and other filings in Guadalupe County District Court cases.

This is the correct records office for most felony indictment, conviction, sentencing and dismissal documentation arising from District Court prosecutions.

Guadalupe County District Clerk

Main office:
211 W. Court Street
Seguin, TX 78155

Criminal / Collections: 830-303-8875
General office: 830-303-8873
Email: dccourts@guadalupetx.gov
Office hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

What felony records can you request?

Subject to public access rules, the District Clerk may hold documents such as:

  • Indictments and other charging instruments
  • Criminal case docket sheets
  • Filed motions and court orders
  • Plea-related filings and agreements where public
  • Judgments of conviction
  • Sentencing documents
  • Dismissal orders
  • Community supervision orders and modifications
  • Other publicly releasable District Court filings

Not every category is necessarily available through online document viewing. Some records require an official request, while protected or confidential material cannot be released to the general public.

How to obtain an older felony record

If the portal does not contain the case, contact the District Clerk with the defendant’s full name, approximate prosecution year and any known court or case number.

The Clerk maintains records in addition to what is currently available through the public search interface.

Do not assume a missing online entry proves that a historical felony prosecution never occurred.

Class A and Class B misdemeanors

Guadalupe County Misdemeanor Criminal Records

Guadalupe County’s County Court at Law #2 handles criminal misdemeanor cases within its jurisdiction.

The County Clerk maintains the associated misdemeanor criminal court records.

How to find a misdemeanor case

  1. Open Guadalupe County PublicAccess

Choose the Criminal Case Records category.

  2. Search the defendant or case number

Look for a County Court at Law misdemeanor case. A known CCL case number is particularly helpful.

  3. Review the available docket

Check arraignment, plea, motion, hearing and disposition details where publicly displayed.

  4. Contact the County Clerk for documents

If you need the final judgment, dismissal or a certified copy, contact the County Clerk’s court records office.

County Court at Law #1 versus #2

Guadalupe County has more than one County Court at Law. Its official court descriptions distinguish their assignments.

The county currently lists criminal misdemeanor jurisdiction for County Court at Law #2, while Court at Law #1’s published responsibilities focus on civil, probate, guardianship, condemnation and specified lower-court appeals.

This distinction can help you avoid contacting the wrong courtroom when researching an ordinary misdemeanor prosecution.

Local procedure: Court at Law #2 publishes procedures permitting certain misdemeanor pleas in absentia and remote proceedings where allowed. Not every criminal hearing requires the same appearance method; follow the court’s actual instructions for the case.

Class C charges and city citations

Guadalupe County Justice of the Peace and Municipal Criminal Records

Not every criminal or traffic case in Guadalupe County is maintained by the County Clerk or District Clerk.

Texas Justice Courts and Municipal Courts handle certain fine-only misdemeanors and related citations.

Justice of the Peace Courts

Guadalupe County has four Justice of the Peace precincts. These courts handle Class C fine-only misdemeanor matters and other proceedings within their jurisdiction.

Justice Court Address Phone
Precinct 1 2405 E. US Highway 90, Seguin, TX 78155 830-372-4223
Precinct 2 101 E. Court Street, Suite 213, Seguin, TX 78155 830-379-2214
Precinct 3 1101 Elbel Road, Suite 6, Schertz, TX 78154 210-945-6685
Precinct 4 11144 FM 725, Seguin, TX 78155 830-372-8916
Precinct 4 schedule change: Effective September 28, 2026, the Precinct 4 office reports being closed to the public on Mondays and Fridays, with public office hours Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Verify current hours before visiting.

Seguin Municipal Court

The City of Seguin operates a separate Municipal Court for qualifying city ordinance and fine-only criminal or traffic matters.

The city provides online citation searching and an official Municipal Court contact page.

Seguin Municipal Court

Address: 660 S. Highway 46
Seguin, TX 78155

Telephone: 830-401-2325

Schertz Municipal Court

Schertz has its own Municipal Court for offenses within the court’s city jurisdiction.

Schertz Municipal Court

Address: 1400 Schertz Parkway, Building 1
Schertz, TX 78154

Telephone: 210-619-1500

Cibolo Municipal Court

Cibolo also maintains its own citation-search system. Its public search supports citation numbers and other identifying criteria.

Be careful when paying a traffic citation online. Seguin’s official payment page warns that paying a citation in full enters a guilty or no-contest plea and waives trial rights. Schertz also warns that full payment may cause an offense to be reported as a conviction on the driving record. If you intend to contest the charge or request a dismissal or defensive driving option, contact the court before paying.

Hearings, calendars and court appearances

How to Search Guadalupe County Criminal Court Dockets

If you need an upcoming criminal hearing rather than a historical record, start with the Court Calendar category in the county’s official Tyler PublicAccess portal.

  1. Open the official court portal

Select Court Calendar or the available hearing-search category.

  2. Use the available court and date filters

Narrow the results to the correct court and hearing period if the portal provides those options.

  3. Find the defendant’s case

Compare names, case numbers and courtroom details to make sure the hearing is for the correct matter.

  4. Check the type of hearing

Determine whether it concerns arraignment, motions, a plea, trial, sentencing or another event.

  5. Confirm time-sensitive information

Contact the court coordinator or clerk if you must appear in court. Schedules can change after an online calendar is published.

Who should you call about a court date?

For felony cases, start with the District Clerk’s criminal department at 830-303-8875.

For a misdemeanor proceeding in County Court at Law #2, the court office is available at 830-303-8871 and the County Clerk at 830-303-8861.

For Justice or Municipal Court proceedings, contact that court directly.

Warrant searches: A public case docket or hearing calendar should not be treated as a comprehensive warrant clearance. If you are concerned about an active warrant, use official court or law-enforcement channels.

Official judgments and certified records

How to Get Certified Guadalupe County Criminal Court Records

A public docket may show the result of a case, but government agencies, licensing boards and other organizations sometimes require a certified court document.

Guadalupe County provides both clerk-assisted records requests and electronic certification services.

County Clerk electronic certified copies

The Guadalupe County Clerk offers electronically certified copies of eligible court records through its linked eCertify service.

The county states that purchased electronic certified records are delivered by email and include tamper-evident validation features.

District Clerk certified felony copies

The District Clerk provides a separate route for obtaining certified court records. Its official website links to a certified-copy purchase service.

For a felony record that is not available electronically, contact the criminal department at:

Phone: 830-303-8875
Email: dccourts@guadalupetx.gov

How to request a criminal judgment or dismissal

  1. Find the exact case number

Use PublicAccess or the original court paperwork.

  2. Identify the correct clerk

Contact the District Clerk for felony District Court records, or the County Clerk for County Court misdemeanor records.

  3. Specify the document needed

Common examples are judgment of conviction, sentence, dismissal order, final disposition or another specific filing.

  4. State whether certification is required

Ask for a certified or exemplified copy only if the receiving organization requires that level of authentication.

  5. Confirm availability and fees

Check the applicable clerk’s current fee schedule and whether the document is available through electronic certification.

  6. Submit the request through the approved channel

Follow the Clerk’s payment and delivery instructions. Do not submit court fines through a records-copy payment service.

Published County Clerk court-copy fees

Guadalupe County’s published County Clerk fee schedule, effective January 1, 2025, includes the following court-document copy charges:

Copy type Published fee
Certified court copy $1 per page plus $5 certification fee per document
Regular printed court copy $1 per page or partial page
Electronic copy of an electronic document $1 per document through 10 pages; $0.10 for each page over 10
Exemplified court copy $1 per page, plus $5 certification and $2 County Judge certification

These are published County Clerk fees, not a universal price list for every District Clerk record or Sheriff report. Online services may also have transaction charges.

Important distinction: The county offers certified court-record purchases through a service linked from its official Clerk websites. A payment to resolve a misdemeanor criminal fine is a different transaction. Always confirm whether you are purchasing a document or paying a court-assessed obligation.

Bookings, custody status and bond information

Guadalupe County Jail Records and Inmate Search

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office operates the Adult Detention Center in Seguin.

The county’s official PublicAccess portal includes categories for Jail Records and Jail Bond Records.

These resources can help with custody and bond questions, but they are separate from criminal court judgments.

How to look up jail records

  1. Open Guadalupe County PublicAccess

Select Jail Records or Jail Bond Records depending on what you need.

  2. Enter the available person or booking details

Follow the portal’s search fields. Use complete information when possible.

  3. Review the available custody information

Check the matching record and any displayed booking, custody or bond details.

  4. Confirm information that may have changed

Jail status can change because of release, bond or transfer. Contact the detention center when the information must be current.

  5. Use criminal case records for the final outcome

Search the corresponding criminal court to establish whether charges were dismissed, remained pending or resulted in conviction.

Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center

Jail general and bond information: 830-303-6342
Jail records: 830-303-6342, extension 2239
Background check inquiries: Extension 2239
Visitation information: Extension 2270

Sheriff’s Office:
2617 N. Guadalupe Street
Seguin, TX 78155

What happens at magistration?

The Sheriff’s detention guidance explains that a person brought to the jail is booked and may then be taken before a magistrate.

The magistrate advises the accused of applicable rights and charges and addresses bail.

This is an initial criminal justice procedure, not a final determination of guilt.

How do you find a state prison inmate?

A person sentenced to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice may no longer appear in local county custody records.

Use the state’s official offender search for qualifying TDCJ custody and supervision information.

The state search supports name and offender identifiers. It does not replace the Guadalupe County criminal case docket.

Law-enforcement records and public information requests

Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Criminal and Arrest Records

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office maintains law-enforcement records associated with its own reports and investigations.

These can include eligible offense reports, incident records, recordings and other materials subject to Texas public-information law.

The Sheriff’s Office requires open-records requests to be submitted in writing.

Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office

Address: 2617 N. Guadalupe Street
Seguin, TX 78155

24-hour telephone: 830-379-1224
Metro: 830-303-5241
Records email: so.openrecords@guadalupetx.gov
Records office hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

How to request a Sheriff’s incident report

  1. Confirm which police agency handled the incident

Use the Sheriff’s Office if it created the report. If Seguin Police, Schertz Police or another agency responded, request the report from that agency instead.

  2. Collect the incident information

Include the approximate date, location, involved names and report number if known.

  3. Complete an open-records request

Download the Sheriff’s request form or submit a sufficiently specific written request using the official process.

  4. Submit the request

The Sheriff’s Office accepts requests by mail, in person or at its published records email address.

  5. Wait for the fee determination and response

The office states that requests can take up to ten business days to process. Texas Public Information Act requirements govern official responses and any withholding or referrals for an Attorney General decision.

  6. Obtain releasable records

Follow the Sheriff’s payment and delivery instructions. Some confidential or protected information may be redacted or withheld.

Sheriff’s published records fees

Service Published charge
Copy of an eligible report $5 per report, with $0.10 per page after 10 pages
Copy of a recording $75
Research and assembly of information $25 per hour where applicable

Other charges may apply. The Sheriff’s Office states that it will notify requesters if payment is required before releasing records.

What about traffic crash reports?

The Sheriff’s Office directs requesters seeking vehicle collision reports to the Texas Department of Transportation’s Crash Records Information System (CRIS) because many law-enforcement agencies submit collision reports there.

Arrest record versus conviction: A Sheriff report may document an investigation or arrest without showing the final result in court. To determine whether someone was convicted, obtain the actual court disposition.

Statewide Texas criminal background checks

Texas DPS Criminal History Search for Guadalupe County Residents

The Texas Department of Public Safety maintains the state’s Computerized Criminal History system.

This is different from the Guadalupe County case portal, which provides records associated with courts in the county.

Texas DPS makes qualifying conviction and deferred-adjudication information publicly searchable through its name-based criminal-history service.

How to search Texas DPS criminal records

  1. Open the official Texas DPS Criminal History Search

Use the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Crime Records Division website.

  2. Create or access the appropriate public account

The public name-search process uses an account and search credits.

  3. Purchase the required search credit

The DPS website lists $1 per name-based search credit, with applicable payment processing charges.

  4. Enter the individual’s name

Use a complete first and last name. A middle or former name and date of birth can help narrow potential matches where available.

  5. Review potential matches carefully

DPS may search name variations. Do not presume that every result belongs to the person you are investigating.

  6. Review the available criminal history

Check the record details and disposition information. A name-based search is not a fingerprint-confirmed identity match.

How much does a Texas DPS name search cost?

DPS currently lists $1 per online name-based search credit. Credit-card purchases can involve a processing fee.

This fee is separate from court-document copying, a Sheriff’s local background check and fingerprint-based personal criminal-history review.

How to request your own fingerprint-based criminal history

If you are concerned that someone else’s history is being matched with your name, the Texas DPS recommends obtaining a personal fingerprint-based record review.

Fingerprints provide a more reliable identity match than searching by name alone.

Important: A Guadalupe County court case lookup does not search every county in Texas. Conversely, the DPS criminal-history service does not automatically provide every document filed in a Guadalupe County criminal proceeding.

Sealing, expunction and confidentiality

Can Guadalupe County Criminal Records Be Expunged or Sealed?

Texas law permits eligible people to seek expunction or orders of nondisclosure under specific circumstances.

The Guadalupe County District Clerk provides a local expunction information page listing public agencies that may need to receive notice of an expunction proceeding.

Texas expunction law

As of 2026, Texas’s expunction provisions are codified primarily in Chapter 55A of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

Chapter 55A took effect January 1, 2025, and contains separate requirements for eligible acquittals, qualifying arrests without prosecution, certain dismissals and other specified circumstances.

The county’s expunction page still references the older Chapter 55 terminology, so review the updated state law when assessing current eligibility.

Expunction versus nondisclosure

Expunction can require eligible arrest and court records to be removed or otherwise handled as directed by law and the final order.

An order of nondisclosure generally limits public disclosure of qualifying criminal history while preserving access for certain authorized agencies.

These are different legal remedies and have different eligibility requirements.

Why a case may be missing from PublicAccess

A case may be absent because it was expunged, sealed, subject to nondisclosure, confidential by law, unavailable electronically or maintained by another court.

Do not interpret a negative public search as proof that no arrest or criminal history ever existed.

Juvenile records: Guadalupe County Court at Law #2 also handles juvenile cases, but juvenile court information is subject to separate Texas confidentiality and access provisions. Its ordinary public availability is not the same as adult misdemeanor records.

Understand public access restrictions

Are Guadalupe County Criminal Records Public?

Many adult criminal case records are publicly accessible under Texas law, but not all criminal justice information is open to everyone.

Different restrictions apply to sealed or expunged cases, juvenile records, protected personal information, certain investigative material and other legally confidential records.

What can members of the public generally review?

Depending on the particular case and court, public information may include:

  • Criminal case number and assigned court
  • Defendant name
  • Filed charges and allegations
  • Available court hearing dates
  • Public docket entries
  • Publicly releasable court orders
  • Case status and final disposition

What might be restricted?

Examples include juvenile information, legally expunged records, certain sealed information, confidential personal identifiers and information protected under criminal investigation or privacy statutes.

An authorized government agency may have access to information that an ordinary public court search does not disclose.

Can public criminal court records be used for employment background checks?

Employers using consumer reporting agencies must follow applicable Fair Credit Reporting Act requirements, including required disclosures, authorization, accuracy and adverse-action procedures.

A public name-based court search should not be treated as an official fingerprint identification or an automatically suitable employment screening report.
