Manatee County Criminal Records Search: Court Cases, Arrests, Dockets & Public Records
To search Manatee County criminal records, start with the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s public Court Records Search. You can look up court cases by a person’s name, case number, citation number or filing type.
Need arrest details or jail bookings instead? Use the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. For a Florida statewide criminal-history check, use the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Official county, judicial circuit, Sheriff and FDLE information reviewed October 16, 2026.
Where to Search Manatee County Criminal Records
There is no need to pay a third-party people-search website before checking the correct government system. Start with the record type, because a booking record and a criminal case disposition are not the same thing.
Criminal Court Cases
Search felony, misdemeanor and applicable criminal traffic cases, public dockets, hearings, charges and dispositions through the Manatee County Clerk.
Court Case SearchArrest & Jail Records
Search publicly displayed booking information for people currently held in Manatee County Jail or released within the Sheriff portal’s specified time window.
Arrest SearchStatewide Florida History
Request a Florida criminal-history record through FDLE rather than treating a single county court search as a statewide background check.
FDLE Record ChecksHow to Search Manatee County Criminal Court Records Online
The Clerk’s Public Records Hub provides specific court search methods. You can open the search page without creating an account to inspect public records. Registration is available for additional account-based functions, including eligible electronically certified document orders.
records.manateeclerk.com/CourtRecords/Search
The page provides options for Person’s Name, Business Name, Case Number, Citation Number, Case/Filing Type and New Cases Filed Today.
- Open the Clerk’s official Court Records Search. Use the direct Manatee County Clerk portal, not the separate Official Records search intended for recorded documents such as deeds.
- Choose “Person’s Name” if you do not know the case number. Enter the name using the portal’s requested format. Check alternative spellings or former names when appropriate.
- Choose “Case Number” when you have a docket number. Preserve the entire case number from the summons, arrest paperwork, court notice or previous case record. This usually narrows results substantially.
- Use “Case/Filing Type” for category-based research. If the person’s name is unknown or you are researching a class of cases, use the court’s case-type and date controls rather than guessing an identity.
- Review matching case results. Check the court case number, party name, filing date, case type and case status. Do not assume that two records with similar names involve the same person.
- Open the relevant case and read its history. Look for charges, hearings, motions, pleas, sentencing entries, judgments or dismissals. Later docket entries may change the meaning of earlier events.
- Look for available court documents. Some images are publicly viewable. Others may require a View on Request procedure, or may be confidential and unavailable to the public.
- Contact the Clerk when official documentation is required. For certified judgments, dispositions, older materials or an unclear case, use the Public Access and Research Division or Criminal Division contact details below.
Manatee County Felony, Misdemeanor and Criminal Traffic Records
Manatee County is part of Florida’s Twelfth Judicial Circuit, which serves Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto counties. It is important to choose the correct case category when searching criminal court records.
Felony Cases
Felony prosecutions fall within Circuit Court jurisdiction. Manatee County’s circuit criminal work includes felony divisions identified as I, III and V.
Common docket events include arraignment, motions, pleas, hearings, trial events, sentencing and post-judgment proceedings.
Misdemeanor & Criminal Traffic
County Court generally handles misdemeanors and criminal traffic matters within its jurisdiction.
Be careful to distinguish criminal traffic charges, such as qualifying DUI proceedings, from noncriminal traffic infractions.
The Twelfth Judicial Circuit’s official Criminal Division page explains the court’s criminal jurisdiction and publishes division-specific information, forms and hearing resources.
How to Read Manatee County Criminal Docket Results
The case status and docket history matter more than the first charge shown on a search-results page. Use the full case history to understand the proceedings.
| Case detail | What it tells you | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| Case Number | The court’s identifier for that proceeding. | Keep the complete number for copies and clerk inquiries. |
| Charge | The offense alleged or formally filed. | Check later amendments, pleas and dispositions. |
| Open or Pending | Proceedings may still be underway. | Review the next scheduled event and the latest orders. |
| Dismissed / Nolle Prosequi | A charge may have been dismissed or prosecution discontinued. | Confirm whether the outcome covers every charge. |
| Adjudication Withheld | The court may have withheld adjudication under applicable Florida law. | Do not equate it automatically with either a conviction or an expunged record. |
| Adjudicated Guilty | A finding of guilt and adjudication of conviction is recorded. | Review sentence, appeals and later modifications. |
| Closed | The docket has an administrative status indicating closure. | Find the disposition rather than guessing the outcome from “Closed.” |
Manatee County Arrest Records and Jail Booking Search
For recent arrest or booking information, use the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Inquiries tool. It is a different system from the Clerk’s criminal case docket.
How to search the Sheriff’s booking system
- Open Arrest Inquiries. Visit the official Sheriff arrest search.
- Read the disclaimer. The Sheriff’s information describes bookings and does not establish the final outcome of court proceedings.
- Use the available search controls. Follow the portal into the booking search and enter the relevant name or available identifier.
- Compare possible matches. Look at the available booking date, arrest information, charge, booking number or custody status.
- Check the court disposition separately. If prosecution followed, use the Clerk’s Court Records Search to verify the corresponding criminal case.
Request a Manatee Countywide Criminal Background Check
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Records Section offers countywide adult background checks. Unlike a search of a particular court case, this is a request for background information maintained through the Sheriff’s local records process.

For an adult countywide check, supply identifying information consistent with its instructions, including the person’s correct first and last name, date of birth and other requested identifiers or previously used surnames.
The Sheriff’s published mail instructions require a self-addressed stamped envelope and $2 per person, with restrictions on acceptable payment methods.
Check Request InstructionsImportant July 2026 change to Sheriff’s public records
The Sheriff’s Records Section reports that legislation effective July 1, 2026 expanded confidentiality for victims’ and qualifying family members’ personally identifying information. That information may be redacted from released records.
The Sheriff’s guidance explains that a case number may be more useful than searching by protected victim information. Eligible victims or family members can review the identity-verification instructions for requesting their own protected information.
Florida Statewide Criminal History: FDLE Record Check
The Manatee County Clerk does not perform statewide Florida criminal-history checks. To search Florida’s central criminal-history repository, use FDLE’s official criminal-history services.
Electronic Name-Based Check
FDLE lists a general public fee of $24 per search plus a $1 card-processing charge for its Instant Search. An instant response is not certified.
Open FDLE Search OptionsReview Your Own Florida History
FDLE has a separate personal-review procedure allowing an individual to examine and challenge their own Florida criminal-history record after fingerprint-based identity verification.
FDLE does not charge its own fee for this personal-review service; fingerprinting provider charges may apply.
Read Personal Review RulesHow to Get Certified Manatee County Criminal Court Records
The Manatee County Clerk offers electronically certified court records through its Public Records Hub. That is especially useful if you need a certified criminal disposition, judgment or order without visiting the courthouse, provided the document is eligible.
- Open Court Records Search. Visit the Clerk’s official portal and locate the criminal case.
- Register if needed for ordering. Use the portal’s registration option and follow its account confirmation instructions for additional record services.
- Open the document. Identify the disposition, judgment or other specific record required.
- Choose “Certified Print” when available. The Clerk’s published court-certification instructions describe adding the desired record to the shopping cart.
- Complete checkout. Review the document and payment details before ordering.
- Save the certified document. Follow the portal’s delivery and verification instructions. Keep the electronic certificate intact.
What if a document has a lock icon?
The Clerk identifies some records as View on Request (VOR). Click the lock icon and follow the provided request instructions, including the email field where required. The Clerk says such requests are typically processed within approximately 24 hours, but that timing is not guaranteed.
A lock icon that permits a VOR request is different from a document marked confidential. The latter may be unavailable to general-public users even after a request.

Why Can’t You Find a Manatee County Criminal Record?
A missing result can reflect the wrong portal, an incomplete identifier, a restriction on public access or an older record requiring assistance from the custodian.
| Problem | Possible reason | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| No name match | Different spelling, previous surname or incomplete name. | Use the exact case number, if known, or adjust available search fields. |
| Booking found, no court case | The arrest may not have resulted in a filed prosecution, or the case is not yet indexed. | Check again later and contact the Clerk or arresting agency for the appropriate record. |
| Case appears but image is locked | The document may be View on Request or confidential. | Follow the VOR icon’s instructions, if available, or ask Public Access about eligibility. |
| Older jail record missing | Sheriff online release search covers only its published recent window. | Request older arrest records from the arresting agency. |
| Case was sealed or expunged | Florida law or a court order may restrict access. | Follow applicable legal access and correction procedures; do not attempt to bypass restrictions. |
| Statewide criminal history needed | Manatee Clerk only maintains local court records. | Use FDLE’s official Florida Criminal History Record Check. |
| Federal case not found | Federal cases use a separate court system. | Search PACER or the national PACER Case Locator. |
Sealed, Expunged and Confidential Manatee County Criminal Records
Florida law restricts public access to qualifying sealed, expunged and juvenile records and to protected personal information. Not every document in an otherwise public criminal case is available remotely.
For record sealing or expungement, the Manatee Clerk directs applicants to FDLE’s eligibility and application process and then the appropriate court procedures. Eligibility is fact-specific and depends on the applicable law and record.
Manatee County Criminal Appeals and Federal Court Records
A Manatee County trial court case and a later appellate case can have separate docket numbers. Florida appellate dockets are available through the state’s Appellate Case Information System (ACIS).
Federal prosecutions do not appear as ordinary Manatee County criminal trial cases. Federal court records must be searched through PACER or the appropriate federal court.
ACIS Court Records
Open the statewide appellate case search, choose the appellate court and search by case number or party name. Preserve the original trial court case number to cross-reference proceedings.
Florida ACIS SearchPACER Federal Cases
Use PACER for federal criminal cases. The national Case Locator can help find cases when the federal district is unknown. PACER fees may apply.
PACER Find a CaseResponsible Use of Manatee County Criminal Records
Public criminal case information requires careful interpretation. An arrest, an accusation, a pending charge and a conviction are different legal events.
- Confirm identity using reliable details, not name alone.
- Read the final disposition rather than relying on the initial charge.
- Check for appeals, reversals, dismissals or later orders.
- Respect sealed, expunged and protected records.
- Do not use an informational court-search website as a substitute for authorized consumer reporting.
